Our first visit to The Gallivant and spending Christmas away. We received a very warm welcome from Moolie who ensured our check in went smoothly. The ambience of The Gallivant is perfect, we felt very much at home and nothing was too much trouble. The furnishings and decor and the log fire make it a wonderful place to relax. We very much appreciated the fruit bowl and walnuts to crack. It was like spending Christmas in a beautiful country home rather than a hotel. The opportunity to do a morning yoga class is a great idea and Melanie is an excellent teacher. We were in a snug cabin, having booked late but didn’t find it too small. The space has been used well and the ability to make a tea or coffee was great. The food was excellent throughout we really couldn’t fault it. The evening bed turndown service was a nice surprise with sleepy tea and a flask of hot water left for us along with a little treat each evening. We loved sitting in the snug lounge and playing the many games on offer. Listening to the pianist on Boxing Day afternoon was blissful. I can’t really think of anything you could do to improve the experience. It really exceeded any expectations we had. All the staff were amazing, and work as a team which is important when it’s busy but nothing felt rushed, they were calm and courteous and friendly. Thank you for giving us a perfect Christmas and to Lindsey for taking the time to show us one of your luxury garden rooms before we left - one to try next time. If happiness is a place, then this is definitely it.

Very pleasant stay, lovely staff and surroundings

We’ve been coming to the Gallivant (or rather The place at the beach then The place) since 2005 and each visit brings new happy memories - thank you. We were greeted warmly by everyone, Nakeeta, Johnathon and Jo especially made us feel like old friends. Tiff in the restaurant was very knowledgable and we were impressed with her cheery yet professional manner. The food has definitely upscaled so many thanks to Matthew and the team couldn’t fault a thing. Also love the new breakfast suited us perfectly. We can't fault anything!!everything was brilliant! We loved the breakfast, we loved the Rye Bread and all the options available. Your members of staff especially Naketa were nothing short of excellent! I hope they get recognition for the hard work they do.
